REIMAGINE -- our virtual music and arts festival by the Venice-Mar Vista Arts Coalition benefitting the Westside Food Bank on June 6 -- is now up on YouTube.  That’s right!  Just go to the Venice-Mar Vista Arts Coalition Channel on YouTube. There you’ll find all 8+ hours of festival programming organized for your viewing pleasure.

Wanna have a dance party?  Check out Reimagine-8 MVMAW Dance Party with band favorites Westerner, Piel, Looner and more throw down a full hour of good beats!   Or maybe you prefer to learn how to create a sculpture made out of home items and succulent plants.  Check out the Workshop webisode Reimagine-4UrbanBloom-Yoga-Tantau.  Full schedule and Reimagine webisodes available on the Venice-Mar Vista Arts Coalition YouTube Channel.

If you were protesting in DTLA or WeHo and missed our June 6 virtual arts fest Reimagine offers plenty of opportunity to support Los Angeles Black artists.  You can purchase the fiery poetry of @bridgettebianca (just don’t capitalize her name!) on Reimagine-7BeyondBaroque,  or lead singer Tiki from @Piel and the soulful music of singer-songwriter @Sunny War on Reimagine-8.  And don’t miss the amazing art by women of color from the Social Protest Art Resource Center (SPARC) webisode Reimagine-2-SPARC.

The COVID19 pandemic has been especially hard on the community of local artists.  Some are even experiencing food insecurity for the very first time.  Whatever you can bring -- donations to Westside Food Bank, a purchase from a local artist, or a Like or Follow on their social media -- is much appreciated. You can also Donate to GCI, the art walk’s 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit and keep local arts alive or encourage your friends to subscribe to our newsletter at http://marvistaartwalk.org.

We stand with all black people during this time of protest. We stand against police brutality, and against the destruction of lives and businesses. We advise our community of artists continue to do what we are best known for -- extending compassion and kindness, creativity and the full range of human emotion -- to your art.  Do not stop creating. Art has impact. Your voice matters. It will still be heard. We will at some point reflect on these times and what you have to say about them will demonstrate the full capacity of human resolve, resilience and yes, genius.
